Caroline Boyer received a grant from the Wyoming Energy Authority due to her research project and its connection to Wyoming energy resources. Caroline's grant is for continuing work on this year's research. She is evaluation the ability of the bentonite/zeolite matrix that Riley Thomas developed last year to be utilized as a means of reducing PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) contamination in water exposed to fracking compounds. She will be working with Dr. Franco Basile, who is the head of the Analytical Chemistry department at the University of Wyoming. The grant will pay for travel, lodging and meals; as well as utilization of GC/MS analytical equipment in the lab and various reagents and materials for this data collection.
